Jason Taylor tweaking the techniques of Roosters playmakers - dailytelegraph.com.au

HE’S been back all of one week, yet Sydney Roosters halves Mitchell Pearce and Luke Keary are already profiting from Jason Taylor’s technical tweaks.

Six days after Taylor returned for his second stint as Tricolours assistant coach, the Roosters’ attack found a new gear against Parramatta. Coincidence? Perhaps, but Pearce revealed his heavy influence in Sunday’s 48-10 rout was partly inspired by the recently sacked Wests Tigers coach. “He brought some nice little subtleties to our game last week,” Pearce told AAP.

“Just a couple of little changes, so he can have that win.

“He’s had a tough time, been battered from pillar to post so it was good to see him enjoy a win.”

Fellow playmaker Keary was equally significant, orchestrating three tries in a whole-team performance featuring three Blake Ferguson tries and Latrell Mitchell’s razzle-dazzle return to first grade.

Dad's words driving force for Daniel Tupou's turnaround at the Sydney Roosters - The Sydney Morning Herald

Daniel Tupou is the first to admit 2016 wasn't his finest season.

The 25-year-old Sydney Roosters winger remains his own worst critic despite his more than 100 first-grade games, a Test and multiple NSW Origin appearances. Yet his single biggest motivating factor behind this season's sharp form turnaround has come from an external source.

Tough love: Daniel Tupou's future at the Roosters is now close to being finalised, rumours suggesting a four-year extension. Tough love: Daniel Tupou's future at the Roosters is now close to being finalised, rumours suggesting a four-year extension.  Photo: Getty Images

It's not the fans – he doesn't take the "mean stuff" a handful say personally. But more than anything, he cares what his dad, Michael, thinks.

"My old man has been supporting me since I started playing, he was in my ear in the off-season to work hard again and try and prove him wrong again," Tupou said.

"It's still in the back of my head, how I performed last year, and that motivates me to go out there...

Sydney Roosters' Boyd Cordner fights back tears after being anointed NSW's State of Origin captain - The Sydney Morning Herald

They reckon big boys don't cry, but the biggest Blue of them all now has shed a few in his time. And not afraid to admit it too.

"I called my dad straight away ... I need to get myself together a bit," NSW's newly appointed skipper Boyd Cordner quivered, fighting back tears. "He's been my No.1 supporter all my life. He was over the moon and is always proud of me no matter what I do. I think he was happier than I am."

What James Tedesco said when told he would reunite with Jason ... - The Sydney Morning Herald

James Tedesco can see the irony in reuniting with former Tigers coach Jason Taylor at the Roosters next season, but he insists there's no bad blood between the pair.

Sydney Roosters coach Trent Robinson recently raised the issue with Tedesco after signing Taylor to an assistant role at the club he helped lead to a premiership in 2013.

While there's been plenty made of the relationship between Taylor and his former Tigers players in relation to his demise at the joint venture, Tedesco insists he has no qualms about working under the Roosters' new attacking coach.

"That's all good. I spoke to Robbo about that," Tedesco said ahead of his second appearance for NSW next Wednesday night.

James Tedesco to Roosters: Wests Tigers NRL star opens up on move - Fox Sports

JAMES Tedesco has opened up on his decision to quit the Wests Tigers for the Sydney Roosters in a move he is adamant wasn’t driven by money.

The NSW No.1 will move to the Chooks on a handsome four-year deal from next season but revealed if his decision was driven by the dollar, the more lucrative offer would’ve been to remain in Concord.

In search of a change and sustained success on the paddock, joining a strong club was a major draw card for the Camden product.

While Tedesco’s decision was met with great uproar form the Tigers faithful who labelled the custodian ‘money hungry’ on social media, he said he can understand why they are upset but insists the move wasn’t motivated by cash.

Roosters to talk turkey with Blake - dailytelegraph.com.au

BLAKE Ferguson will meet with “the big fella” next week to try and settle his uncertain playing future.

The NSW winger remains unsigned for next season — an unusual situation given he is also an incumbent Australian winger.

The “big fella” Ferguson referred to was powerful Sydney Roosters chairman Nick Politis.

Ferguson wants to re-sign but was generally noncommittal when asked about his future.

“I don’t know — I want to stay at the Roosters but I’m keeping my options open,” he said.

“I will catch up with the big fella next week — Nick, the boss. I will see him and have a chat.

“At the end of the day, I have to look after my family and I know it’s probably one of my last contracts.

“I don’t want to leave the Roosters, I’d be shattered to leave. I’m loyal as well. I love the club. I just...

Canberra Raiders 'Leipana' faces firing Sydney Roosters left edge - The Canberra Times

It's the NRL's most exciting edge pairing up against the duo that want the mantle, and it will go a long way to deciding who wins between the Canberra Raiders and the Sydney Roosters.

The "Leipana" bromance set the NRL alight last season as Jordan Rapana and Joey Leilua emerged as the excitement machines of the competition on the Green Machine's right edge.

They'll go head-to-head with the Roosters' left edge pairing of Latrell Mitchell and Daniel Tupou, as the visitors look to continue the resurgence that's seen them climb to fourth on the NRL ladder at Canberra Stadium on Sunday.

While Leipana were yet to reach the heights of last season, they've still scored more tries between them than they had at the same time last year.

Sydney Roosters coach Trent Robinson deserves praise for his decision to drop Latrell Mitchell (r). (AAP)

Sydney Rooster coach Trent Robinson deserves congratulations for the "tough love" he has administered to his talented young centre Latrell Mitchell over the past month.

After a few weeks playing in the reserve grade competition for feeder club Wyong, Mitchell returned to the first-grade side yesterday and immediately reminded us of his special talents. In fact, with his first touch of the ball he swatted aside his opposition centre with a powerful palm to the chest to score the opening try of the match for his team.

However, Mitchell was not sent back to reserve grade to learn how to play football. He was demoted to the lower grades to learn how to appreciate what it means to be a professional footballer.

Not many coaches would have had the courage to drop an outstanding...

Roosters plan to TKO Klemmer - dailytelegraph.com.au

FORWARDS don’t usually look for one-on-one battles with their opposite number — after all, why else would they call it a pack?

But returning Sydney Rooster Sio Siua Taukeiaho has his sights firmly set on subduing Canterbury forward David Klemmer when the teams clash on Sunday.

Taukeiaho relishes confronting the best lock forwards in the world and can’t wait to take on Klemmer and the rest of the blue-and-white giants.

“They’ve got a good forward pack, but I love playing against Bulldogs,” Taukeiaho said.

“They’ve got a big team and it challenges myself, going up against bigger blokes than myself.

“I’ll challenge myself to go up against Klemmer, and I’m really excited for the challenge.

“I’ve always had that in my head. I’m going up against one of the best locks in the game and I can see where I’m at at the moment.

Taukeiaho has made an excellent return to first grade.
