Blake Ferguson close to new Sydney Roosters deal - NRL - Wide World of Sports

Blake Ferguson admits fearing he would be squeezed out of the Sydney Roosters but he's now confident of re-signing with the NRL club within the next fortnight.

Despite being a current NSW State of Origin and Australia representative, Ferguson is the only member of the Roosters' top 17 still without a deal for next season.

And concerns of a forced exit only increased this week after the club agreed to contract extensions for fellow back three players Michael Gordon and Daniel Tupou.

That pair share the same player manager as Ferguson, however the Blues winger said on Friday the final touches were being put on a new deal that had been stalled by the collective bargaining talks.

"We're pretty close. The things that are baulking it are the CBA and all the salary cap stuff. Hopefully in the next couple of weeks, I'm happy with figures and all that," Ferguson said.

Injured Rooster Gordon out for two months | SBS News - SBS

Sydney Roosters fullback Michael Gordon will miss the next two months of the NRL due to a chest injury.

The Sydney Roosters' road to the NRL finals has hit a speed bump with superboot Michael Gordon to miss the next two months with a pectoral injury.

The Roosters fullback is hoping to be back for the tri-colours' finals campaign after going down in last week's win over South Sydney.

It was feared the veteran would have to undergo season-ending surgery, however scans revealed a more positive prognosis for the competition's top point-scorer.

Not only does coach Trent Robinson face a headache trying to figure out who will fill in at fullback, but how they make up for the loss of Gordon's reliable goal-kicking will also be crucial.

Gordon, 33, was recruited from Parramatta partially for his goal-kicking and hasn't disappointed.

He has struck the ball at 77 per cent this year - with 55...

Kenny-Dowall set to face Roosters in NRL - SBS

Shaun Kenny-Dowall is poised to make his return to the NRL field next week against the Sydney Roosters.

Shaun Kenny-Dowall is set to face the Sydney Roosters next week just a month after being dumped by the tri-colours over his cocaine scandal.

The former New Zealand Test representative is expected to make his Newcastle debut against his old side on Friday week at Allianz Stadium.

Kenny-Dowall was thrown a lifeline two weeks ago by Knights coach Nathan Brown. He is still recovering from a hamstring injury and had been considered for the Knights' game on Saturday night against Brisbane.

However, after electing to hold him back as a precaution, he is set to make his club debut against his old side in what promises to be an emotionally charged game.

"I'd be surprised if he isn't able to play against the Roosters next week," Brown said.

"He's not quite right at this stage.

"His hamstring...
